The scanner is designed for constant measurement of the paper web qualities with a paper machine. It can also be used for measurements of similar kinds. The scanner creates sufficient operating facilities for the meters which measure web.

Sensors are located in carriages that move on both sides of the paper web and that are kept aligned with each other. The change in the mutual position of the carriages is minimised. In this way it is also possible to measure precisely when using sensors which have parts on both sides of the paper web.
